This apartment is reached by an external stairway as it’s on the floor above the reception, it does not have an immediate outside eating area though you are welcome to use the dining facilities in the gardens by the swimming-pool opposite the apartment.

Wow!! It was fantastic in every way. The property is gorgeous. it is well maintained, well located, and beauty of the flowers, lavender, rosemary, olive groves, and vineyards is breathtaking. It is in a great location to get to Florence and the Chianti towns, like San Gimignano. Leonardo is a great host,very welcoming and helpful. I had to tear myself away. I wish I could be there tomorrow!

We stayed in the Castellacio 1 for a week in mid-October. Prior to our arrival, the owner and his assistant (Leonardo and Roxanna) were very responsive to information we requested. We arrived later than the check-in time but they were happy to wait for us. The place was very clean, exactly as the property description in the website and in the pictures and pretty much offered a peaceful respite overlooking the lovely vineyard and olive plantation. We loved the pool and the barbecue area. We were also able to use the fireplace and wood was readily available. Our kitchen was well equipped with all the necessary kitchen utensils. The villa is about 15-20 minutes away from the grocery and gas station. It is also very centrally located since we drove around to small towns and for wine tasting in the Chianti area, Sienna, Montalcino and also had our touristy itineraries going to Pisa, Lucolena and Firenze (by train). Roxanna provided us with maps, suggestions of nice places to see, how to get around different places and also places to eat which are 10 minutes away from the villa. I would highly recommend Casa de Popolo in Lucolena which was also recommended by Leonardo. He was also kind to call and make reservations for our dinner in the nearby restaurants. We also loved the touch of having your own mini wine bar in the villa (at very reasonable prices) plus the welcome wine gift. We also ended up buying wines produced by Castellaccio because they are really good.
For the very reasonable price that we paid for our stay in this charming villa and the warm welcome from Leonardo and Roxanna, we definitely would go to Tuscany and stay again in this villa.Würden Sie diese Ferienunterkunft an einen Freund empfehlen? Ja
Mooi appartement met groot en rustig zwembad in prachtige streek. Goede locatie qua uitvalswegen, grote supermarkt en wijngaarden. Eigen wijn (museum in de kelder) is zeer aangename verrassing.

This was a wonderful property and just perfect for me, my two daughters and their two friends. We rented the 3-bedroom apartment for a week in April and found it to be an excellent central location from which to explore the Chianti region, Florence, Arrezo, Sienna, Pisa and other Tuscan towns. The owner Leonardo is very hospitable and helped us plan some of our daily excursions and recommended good places to dine at the end of the day. The property is set in the mountains and is in a peaceful rural location. We found the space was more than sufficient for our needs as we were really only in the apartment at the end of the day since we were using it as a base camp from which to tour. If you just want to rest in the Tuscan sun and take in the vineyards and olive groves, you could be quite happy staying fixed at Castellaccio and reading by the pool and listening to the birds (I saw lots of wildlife on my morning and evening strolls). There is a lovely pool on the property which would be the perfect start and finish of the day (alas we were there in April and it was not as inviting in the cool mountain air of the evenings). If you are planning to have a car and want to be in a remote setting, this is a great place to hide away in the Tuscan countryside but still be well positioned to travel and see many sights. If you aren't cooking for yourself, you want to be aware that you will have to travel 20 minutes or so in most directions to get to places to eat (we found many good options and didn't mind the driving). We would gladly return to Castellaccio and are very pleased with our experience.

Villa was set in beautiful location and lived up to what the brochure said. The owners were very helpful with advice on what to do and where to go. We stayed in flat 1, my only regret was we didnt book something with our own outdoor dining area. Otherwise kitchen in villa was very well stocked. Very easy access into Figline for train into Florence. Lovely food in local village Duda. Would certainly recommend to families and couples as a holiday destination.

We were so delighted when we drove up to our villa. It was all we had hoped for and more! The hydrangeas, roses and rosemary were aromatic and welcoming. Our host, Leonardo greeted us warmly and his assistant Roxanna reviewed all the information with us and helped us settle in. Leonardo made dinner reservations for us at a delightful restaurant a couple Km from the villa that evening, the Locanda Borgo Antico. We were warmly greeted and had a great dinner.
Other things to do - there is a pizzaria in Lucolena that has good pizza's and does take out. Not overly friendly. The Castello di Verrazzano, just out of Greve does a wonderful wine tasting/lunch which is definitely worth the 4 hours! [Ask for Gino]. We also lined up a wine tasting with Leonardo, our host, and totally enjoyed it. He takes you through the property and has you sample the wines grown right on the property. He speaks English very well which we appreciated as our Italian is poor at best. Greve has good shopping for wines, oils and a few clothing/leather shops. Also has a nice COOP grocery store [closed 1PM to about 4PM] The train station is in Figline that will take you to the cities.
He also gave us a wine tasting and tour of the property. The wines that are from the property are available for purchase and well stocked in the villa [reasonably priced].
The villa is located about half way between Greve and Figlione. [10 and 8 KM] Good access to shopping and the train. Of course the setting was magnificant! The vineyards were behind the property and the village of Lulolena was very close and lovely to view.
All the bedrooms were spacious and clean. There were personal touches such as pictures and needlepoint. The space for clothing was more that adequate.
The pool area was a wonderful surprise! We had the area to ourselves and spent a lot of time by the pool. Tables and chairs were available and the ground were beautiful! The plants were awesome, rosemary, roses, olive trees, pots of geraniums, hydrangeas...we absolutely loved it.
Sitting by the pool on a sunny afternoon makes the rest of the world seem far away! The only regret we had is that we were not there longer.
