Very good Villa that could be better with some improvements. No air conditioning w meant it was difficult to sleep at night. It would also benefit from having a hand rail along the stairs.

Ok, so I don’t want to give such a good review because everyone will want to go there. But how can I not when it is so perfect? This is a rustic Italian farmhouse with lovely apartments. We first stayed here on our honeymoon in 2001 and visited again a couple of times in 2002/3. We came this time with our two teenage children and honestly it was just the same, but with the little boy we remembered now in charge. The lounge is now a restaurant where he cooks lovely food and Sara was so lovely a hostess. There is a washing machine so we could have travelled a bit lighter and the atmosphere is relaxed. The pool area is pleasant. My only suggestion would be for the owners to charge for air conditioning by the units of electricity used because the charge of £15 per day is a lot when you may only want it on for a couple of hours. We were there during an incredibly hot time and this would have helped us a little. We chose to use fans instead. And this is nothing bad about the property at all, just a preference for us. And of course, you can but the wine they produce and we even watched them bottling some - as we did 22 years ago. Loved it loved it loved it.

Podere Santa Lucia is een heerlijke plek. Het huis is super ruim, de tuin is enorm en het uitzicht prachtig. Je kijkt over het heel dal uit richting de bergen bij de zee. Volterra is te bereiken met de auto in 5 minuten, te voet in ongeveer 20 minuten (best steil omhoog). De supermarkt is heel dichtbij. En de beheerders zijn zeer gastvrij. Ze kwamen elke morgen het zwembad schoonmaken en einde dag de planten en de tuin water geven. We kregen telkens verse groenten van eigen land. Het huis is zeer ruim, met wasmachine. Let erop om een ventilator te vragen, er is er 1, mocht het zeer warm zijn. Wij hebben het zitje van de kamer boven, onder de veranda beneden gezet. Anders is het wat lastiger zitten. Wij waren met 5 personen, dat was perfect, 6 zou ook nog kunnen. Met 8-9 personen is het krap met de meubels die er zijn.

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the pool area. The 8m by 4m pool was the ideal spot for unwinding and cooling off during the hot summer days. What made the pool area even more special was the natural shade provided by the beautiful oak trees that surrounded it. This thoughtful design allowed us to enjoy the pool without being exposed to direct sunlight all day long, making our swimming experience even more enjoyable.
The villa's bathrooms were also a pleasant surprise. They had been recently renovated, and the attention to detail was evident. The modern fixtures and stylish design added a touch of luxury to our vacation, and we appreciated the effort put into making these spaces comfortable and functional.
The only minor drawback was the absence of air conditioning. However, this turned out to be less of an issue than we anticipated. The house's thick walls and strategic positioning among the trees provided a natural cooling effect, and evenings were particularly pleasant. We simply opened the windows and let the fresh breeze circulate, creating a comfortable atmosphere for a good night's sleep.
I must also commend Maria, the local contact person, for her invaluable assistance during our stay. She was incredibly helpful and always available to answer our questions and address any concerns we had. Her knowledge of the area and recommendations for local attractions made our vacation even more enriching.
Maria's fluency in Italian was a blessing, as it facilitated seamless communication with the local community and allowed us to immerse ourselves in the authentic Italian experience. Her friendly and welcoming demeanor made us feel like we had a true friend in the region, and her support added a personal touch to our vacation.
